James J. Gillotti was admitted to the practice of law in Pennsylvania in 1979. During his first year as an attorney, he served as the law clerk to the Honorable Edwin M. Kosik, who was then the President Judge of the Lackawanna County Court of Common Pleas. He has been in private practice in Lackawanna County since 1980. Attorney Gillotti is the Chairman of the Elder Law Committee of the Lackawanna Bar Association, and was instrumental in the creation of that committee. He is a member of the Elder Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and the Estate Planning Council of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Attorney Gillotti concentrates his practice in the following areas:  elder law (including Medicaid eligibility and protecting assets from the costs of long-term care), estate planning and estate administration, special needs planning, business law and real estate.

A native of Carbondale, Attorney Gillotti graduated from the University of Scranton summa cum laude in 1976. He received his law degree in 1979 from the Dickinson School of Law. He held a half-time faculty position at Marywood College from 1985 to 1996, teaching courses in Business Law and Taxation.
