Karoline Mehalchick is a graduate of the Schreyer Honors College of the Pennsylvania State University (1998, B.S. Geosciences), and the Tulane University School of Law (2001, J.D.). After graduating from law school, she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Trish Corbett, Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Lackawanna County.
Attorney Mehalchick is an active member of the Lackawanna and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. She has served as co-chair of the Lackawanna Bar Association’s Continuing Education Committee since 2007 and is a Past President of the Young Lawyers Division. Attorney Mehalchick has also been very involved in the local high school Mock Trial Competition, acting as an Attorney Advisor for a local high school for two years, and serving as District Coordinator of the program for three years. Attorney Mehalchick is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Commission on Women in the Profession, and currently serves as Secretary of the Commission. She is also a member of the PBA’s Federal Practice Committee and the Middle District Local Rules Subcommittee. Attorney Mehalchick was recently elected Vice President of the Middle District of Pennsylvania Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Attorney Mehalchick is also an active member of the community, serving as a board member of Serving Seniors, Inc., sitting on the Women’s Network Committee for the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce, and serving on the St. Joseph’s Center Festival Committee. Additionally, Attorney Mehalchick serves as an adjunct professor at Marywood University, where she teaches Legal and Clinical Aspects of Health Care to graduate students in nursing and health administration.
Attorney Mehalchick holds a BV peer rating from Martindale Hubbell. In June 2006, Attorney Mehalchick received the Michael K. Smith Excellence in Service Award from the PBA. In May 2009, Attorney Mehalchick was the recipient of the Margaret P. Gavin Award. Finally, she has been selected by her peers as a Pennsylvania Rising Star in Philadelphia Magazine in 2010 and 2011, an honor extended to only 2.5% of Pennsylvania attorneys under the age of 40.
