MICHAEL J. O'BRIEN
Michael J. O’Brien graduated from the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service with a B.S. in 2006, and Temple University Law School with a J.D. in 2009. Admitted to the Bar in 2009, Atty. O’Brien has extensive experience representing corporations, small businesses, municipalities and individuals throughout Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania on various matters before the Court of Common Pleas, Commonwealth Court, Superior Court, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, the United States District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. Atty. O’Brien concentrates his practice primarily in business and civil litigation, oil and gas litigation, personal injury law, municipal law, and criminal defense.
In addition to his civilian practice, Atty. O’Brien served as an officer in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps (JAG) of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard from 2008-2017.
Atty. O’Brien is a part-time professor at Marywood University, where he teaches Business Law.
Atty. Michael O’Brien was named a 2019 Pennsylvania Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine, an honor awarded to fewer than 2.5% of Pennsylvania and Delaware attorneys.
Atty. Joseph O'Brien and Atty. Michael O'Brien successfully defended on appeal an antitrust suit filed by two cable installation contractors against a national cable communications company and another contractor. The Third Circuit affirmed the earlier determination of Judge Robert Mariani of the District Court, who concluded that the record contained no evidence of any antitrust injury sustained by the plaintiffs or any evidence that the defendants were guilty of any anti-competitive behavior.
